Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join RemoteRemote’s fully remote engineering team. You will help build the core APIs, tools and integrations that power our global HR platform, working with modern technologies and a high‑frequency deployment pipeline.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Elixir and Phoenix.
• Build and optimise APIs and integrations for our HR product suite.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (frontend, SRE, QA) to deliver features end‑to‑end.
• Write reliable, secure, and scalable code backed by PostgreSQL.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitLab) and support frequent deployments on AWS.

Required profile

• Proven engineering fundamentals with a track record of shipping production‑grade systems.
• Experience designing or improving automation/agentic workflows.
• Strong systems thinking: clear specs, planning, verification, and quality assurance.
• Professional experience with PostgreSQL and CI/CD tools.
