Research Assistant

About the role

The Research Assistant will support investigators in a university laboratory by conducting moderately complex experiments, maintaining equipment, and assisting with both collaborative and independent research projects. This full‑time position requires a commitment of at least three years and involves hands‑on work with cell cultures, animal models, and a variety of analytical techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain culture media, reagents, and experimental animals.
• Perform assays, injections, and grow cell cultures.
• Operate scientific apparatus such as spectrophotometers, centrifuges, incubators, homogenizers, microscopes, fraction collectors, and chromatography/electrophoresis systems.
• Conduct RT‑PCR, histology, and mRNA extraction procedures.
• Maintain laboratory cleanliness, perform minor equipment repairs, and manage inventory.
• Compile, code, and analyze data; maintain accurate records and bibliographies.
• Provide clerical support including typing, phone handling, and correspondence.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline or a closely related field.
• Comfortable working with laboratory animals.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
