Production Manager – Night Shift

About the role

Quality Bakers Auckland, part of Goodman Fielder, is seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead night‑shift operations at its flagship bakery plant. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, you will be responsible for building a high‑performing production team and ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient output that meets daily customer demand.

Key responsibilities

• Champion a ‘Never Walk By’ safety culture, ensure compliance and drive zero‑harm outcomes.
• Lead quality assurance and food‑safety programmes, maintaining GMP compliance and continuous quality improvement.
• Achieve operational excellence targets such as productivity, line utilisation, waste reduction, OEE, and DIFOT.
• Develop leaders and teams, driving engagement, succession planning and employee wellbeing.
• Embed a continuous‑improvement mindset, delivering initiatives that boost productivity, innovation and cost management.

Required profile

• Proven manufacturing leadership with measurable results in DIFOT, HSE, cost control, waste reduction and staff engagement.
• Broad experience in food or pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
• Strong understanding of GMP, food‑safety, quality standards and Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Degree in a science or engineering discipline; a Level 4 qualification in Plant Baking is advantageous.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
