Flight Instructor – Aviation Training

About the role

Saint Louis University seeks qualified Flight Instructors to deliver high‑quality instruction for its professional pilot programs. Under general direction, you will teach, assess, and mentor student pilots while ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and university policies.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct flight lessons according to the Training Course Outline and ensure all required endorsements are recorded.
• Participate in standardization training for each course and maintain proficiency on the aircraft and equipment used.
• Submit stage‑check requests after each training phase and verify completion of flight books before checks.
• Perform aircraft handling duties such as pulling aircraft in/out of the hangar, tying down, and assisting with departmental activities.
• Attend meetings, briefings, and other assigned duties during normal business hours.

Required profile

• CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) certificate is mandatory; CFII/MEI preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Valid FAA medical certificate.
• Ability to teach both single‑engine and instrument‑rating flight training (CFII required for Level II).
• Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
