Educational Advisor I - TRIO Upward Bound Programs

About the role

The Educational Advisor I serves as the primary liaison between Saint Louis University, the McCluer North public school district, program participants, families, and community partners for the TRIO Upward Bound programs. This role oversees daily operations, ensures compliance with federal guidelines, and promotes college‑access opportunities for eligible students.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage all aspects of the Upward Bound program, including student recruitment, orientation, and ongoing support services.
• Maintain accurate program records, track expenditures, and prepare required federal and university reports.
• Develop and deliver presentations to students, parents, schools, and community agencies to raise awareness of TRIO resources.
• Interview prospective participants, collect data, and evaluate program effectiveness.
• Collaborate with university officials, Department of Education representatives, school administrators, and community organizations.
• Prepare continuation proposals and assist with budgeting and compliance monitoring.
• Attend meetings with the U.S. Department of Education Office as requested by senior leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or a related field.
• Experience working with K‑12 students, preferably in college‑access or outreach programs.
• Strong understanding of federal grant regulations and reporting requirements.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality of student records.
