Director of Student Health Center

About the role

The Director of the Student Health Center provides strategic, medical, and operational leadership for student health and physical therapy services at Saint Louis University. The role balances administrative oversight with direct patient care, ensuring high‑quality, whole‑person health services for the campus community.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement student health and physical therapy programs aligned with the university’s Jesuit mission of cura personalis.
• Manage the departmental budget, staffing, and recruitment, including supervision of an Assistant Director, Nurse Supervisor, clinical support staff, and administrative personnel.
• Oversee clinical operations, ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, and maintain evidence‑based clinical guidelines.
• Provide primary patient care to students and coordinate with physicians, specialists, and external providers such as SSM Health Group.
• Review and negotiate student health insurance plans, telehealth contracts, and laboratory service agreements.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, experience, and accessibility.
• Be on call for non‑business hours to support medical staff and address emergent campus health needs.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in medicine, nursing, or a related health field.
• Significant experience in health‑care administration and direct patient care.
• Proven leadership skills with experience supervising multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of health‑care regulations, insurance compliance, and evidence‑based practice.
• Ability to collaborate across university departments and external health partners.
