Desktop Support Engineer – Wellington

About the role

The Ministry is seeking a permanent Desktop Support Engineer to manage and enhance its Standard Operating Environment (SOE) desktop services. You will work on application deployment, packaging, security patching, and support for the Microsoft 365 suite across the Ministry’s device fleet.

Key responsibilities

• Deploy and package applications for end‑user devices.
• Apply desktop security patches and maintain system compliance.
• Build, update, and manage standard images for the device fleet.
• Provide support for Microsoft 365, Teams, and Teams Calling.
• Proactively identify and implement improvements to the desktop environment.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of desktop support experience in a large enterprise.
• Experience configuring and managing devices with Microsoft Intune.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft 365 services.
• Understanding of Multi‑Factor Authentication, Teams, and Teams Calling.
• Ability to script and manage policies (preferable).
• Excellent problem‑solving and customer‑service orientation.
• Willingness to understand the Treaty of Waitangi in a public‑sector context.

• Salary range $85,225 – $103,071 per annum plus KiwiSaver.
