Azure Cloud Engineer – Auckland

About the role

Datacom is looking for an Azure Cloud Engineer to manage and support customer Azure environments in Auckland. You will act as a trusted advisor, promote automation and DevOps/DevSecOps practices, and ensure secure, efficient cloud operations while providing on‑site and on‑call support.

Key responsibilities

• Advise customers on cloud technology, automation and DevOps/DevSecOps adoption.
• Maintain secure and optimised Azure environments.
• Bridge application teams and customer support functions.
• Provide enablement, guidance and training to customers.
• Participate in on‑site support and an after‑hours on‑call roster.

Required profile

• Passionate about cloud transformation, automation and solving customer challenges.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ownership mindset and ability to resolve issues with a team.
• Relevant Azure certifications (e.g., AZ‑400, AZ‑104, AZ‑204, AZ‑500) are preferred.

• Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, ARM Templates, Bicep, PowerShell
• Hybrid and multi‑cloud design, landing zones, tenancy, policy, tagging, cost controls
• Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Functions/Serverless, Storage, Backup, OS & database hardening
• Azure networking and security: IAM, security groups, VNet, NLB, WAF, DNS
• Monitoring, logging and alerting tools
• Cloud‑native solutions: containers, serverless, data, ML/AI, IoT, APIs, micro‑services
