Associate – Banking & Finance

About the role

The successful candidate will join Bowmans' Banking & Finance team, providing high‑quality legal services on a variety of financing transactions and advisory matters. This role offers exposure to sophisticated cross‑border work in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate finance and security documentation, including facility agreements and ancillary transaction documents.
• Support bilateral and syndicated lending transactions such as acquisition finance, real estate finance, fund finance and refinancings.
• Provide well‑reasoned legal input and research on banking and finance matters.
• Liaise with clients, financial institutions and external counsel under supervision.
• Manage transaction documentation, conditions precedent and closing deliverables.
• Ensure work is delivered accurately, efficiently and in line with Bowmans’ quality standards.

Required profile

• Admitted attorney‑at‑law or barrister.
• 2–4 years post‑qualification experience in Banking & Finance or a strong transactional corporate background with clear exposure to finance work.
• Strong academic background and sound understanding of finance structures and security arrangements.
• Excellent drafting, analytical and organisational skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing deadlines.
