Senior Legal Counsel – Contracts (German speaker)

About the role

Join Pennylane’s Legal, Compliance & Risk team as a Senior Legal Counsel focused on contracts. You will act as a trusted legal partner, handling commercial and operational agreements across Europe while improving contracting processes to support rapid growth.

Key responsibilities

• International contracts: draft, negotiate and manage purchase orders and agreements with partner firms, especially in Germany.
• Customer, reseller and integrator agreements: improve terms for SME customers across Europe, support sales with contracting and automated quotations, and negotiate with integrators and resellers.
• Legal operations and collaboration: streamline internal contracting processes, optimise contract‑management tools (Tomorro, Pivot, Notion), identify automation opportunities and train non‑legal teams.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with extensive contract law experience in IP/IT, technology or SaaS, preferably from a law firm or fast‑growing tech company.
• Fluent English and working knowledge of French and German.
• Strong expertise in B2B SaaS agreements, including IP, indemnification, liability caps, SLAs and data provisions.
• Autonomous, comfortable managing matters from start to finish in a multi‑jurisdictional environment (France, Germany, Europe).
• Interest in legal operations, process design and contract‑management tool optimisation.

Required skills

• Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Knowledge of e‑invoicing, payment services and EU AI Act regulations.
• Proficiency with contract‑management platforms such as Tomorro, Pivot and Notion.
• Ability to automate repetitive legal tasks, including use of AI.
