Senior Accountant – Energy Sector

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join a leading international organisation in the European energy sector. The role will support the finance transformation agenda, modernising accounting processes and driving continuous improvement across the finance function.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting activities, including general ledger entries, reconciliations, journal postings and month‑/year‑end close.
• Oversee accounts payable/receivable, fixed‑asset registers, depreciation schedules, accruals, provisions and intercompany transactions.
• Prepare and issue customer invoices, monitor billing schedules, and support automated billing in SAP Business One.
• Ensure compliance with local GAAP, IFRS and internal policies; maintain documentation for internal and external audits; coordinate tax filings and VAT declarations.
• Identify, document and implement process improvements, strengthen internal controls and support SAP Business One integration.
• Collaborate with financial controlling, risk, operations and IT teams; guide junior staff and provide ad‑hoc analysis for senior leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS, with proven month‑/year‑end close experience.
• Fluent written and spoken English (non‑negotiable).
• Proactive, continuous‑improvement mindset and ability to lead change.
