The Vacancy
Malaria Consortium is recruiting for a Research Officer to join our team in Lomé-Togo.
The Research Officer will oversee the research design, provide technical inputs (statistical and analytical support), in all project research output areas.
The main purpose of this role is to lead, coordinate and support research activities for SMC activities in Togo.
The Research Officer will work with technical staff at country and head office level to plan and coordinate Malaria Consortium’s SMC-related research activities, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of appropriate outputs. The role will also involve supporting research field work, data collection and analysis and M&E activities, as well as research uptake.
The Research Officer will be responsible for providing direct technical assistance and implementation oversight for operational research to the project and its partners. The post holder will be a member of Malaria Consortium’s Research Group. The post holder will work with the project team to share responsibility in ensuring that high quality surveillance and operational research approaches are implemented in the Improving Malaria Response project.
The successful candidate will have:
Advanced degree in public health, epidemiology, statistics, or similar field.
Substantial experience working in a research role with an excellent understanding of surveillance and operational research approaches.
Experience of developing research protocols and data collection tools.
Experience of implementing research activities in the field
Experience in collecting and analysing research data.
Good qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills.
Demonstrated experience in survey design, implementation, analysis, and report-writing.
Previous experience in the public health sector in sub-Saharan African countries, particularly Togo.
Experience in setting up standards of quality as well as internal quality assurance mechanisms.
Organisational and project management skills
Good writing skills
Computer literacy
Fluency in French and English
Ability to travel both within Togo (particularly to the Regions of Savanes, Kara and Centrale) and internationally.
Experience of working with Ministry of Health.
Experience in working effectively with government and non-government partners.
Knowledge of malaria prevention and control

This role is conditional of Malaria Consortium securing funding for this role.
