Description
The Medical Laboratory Scientist is expected to use their technical knowledge and skills to deliver quality and accurate diagnostics services to patients. The role involves performing routine and advanced medical laboratory tests and procedures, equipment maintenance, and ensuring the existing quality management system is maintained.
Responsibilities
Perform pre-analytical procedures such as sample collection, separation, accessioning, packaging, review of samples for acceptance or rejection
Operate and maintain medical diagnostics analyzers, instruments, and other table tops tools
Perform sample testing and reporting
Identify critical results and escalate same as per set protocol
Perform necessary equipment calibration, running of controls, reviewing internal quality controls, and actioning of same
Timeous release of laboratory results (within stipulated Turnaround times).
Maintaining good laboratory practices
Utilize the Laboratory Information Management System for specimen tracking, results entry, result approval, and reporting
Keep relevant documentation up to date (e.g. work cards, worksheets, inventory logs, maintenance logs, etc)
Requirements
Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (BMLS) with a current practicing license issued by the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN).
1-3 years post-NYSC work experience (preferably in a hospital-based laboratory)
Comfortable using basic technology including laptops and tablet devices.
Proven experience of success in a multidisciplinary team
Candidates must reside around Lekki axis
