Laboratory Technician
Job Purpose:
To conduct safe and efficient sampling and analysis of production process streams (oil, gas and water) to ensure quality spedfications, production and environmental targets are met in accordance with NOC operating procedures and guidelines, legislative requirements and industry best practice.
Your main duties will be to: -
HSE:
- Drive an incident free environment through establishing and maintaining a strong safety culture.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with HSE (occupational and process) legislation, Company standards and procedures under area of responsibility to ensure employee safety, legislative compliance and a responsible environment attitude.
Strategic Planning & Direction:
- Ensure compliance with Operating Procedures and Guidelines within the Asset to ensure Process Safety, Operational Safety and Plant Integrity.
- Identify opportunities and champion initiatives that enabie maximum production and injection output within the parameters of environmental compliance and process safety.
- Provide Team Lead with regular reports with analysis and comment on performance and results. Be held accountable for area of responsibility.
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with external parties, functional teams and corporate groups as required to meet MOQ's strategic business and operational objectives. Contribute to Improvements, development and Implementation of department activities, processes and procedures.
Operational:
- Gather and interpret stream analysis data.
- Prepare production laboratory analysis reports and advise.
- Production Superviser to ensure specifications are met.
- Prepare accurate laboratory activity log, ensure comprehensive and accurate handover.
- Conduct regular calibration of laboratory analytical instruments. Maintain laboratory equipment integrity and consumable stocks. Ensure chemical injections optimization and assist with chemical stock control.
- Train production personnel in sampling techniques and basic analysis methods.
Ideally, you will have graduated with minimum Higher Secondary School Education plus a three-year technical diploma (HNC, HND or equivalent).
Relevant Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience with at least 5 years offshore level on-field equipment in diversified oil & gas.
You are fluent in English with both written and verbal communication
You will have good interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as, a good level of computer literacy and be proficient in Microsoft Office.
Profile
English Language to a level that satisfies the standards of the Safety English Test (SET) — to be completed before Initial mobilization. Thorough knowledge of petroleum standard test methods, tools and techniques.
