About the Role
To assist the Head, Internal Audit & Control in ensuring the system of internal control is adequate to achieve management objectives in an efficient and effective manner, established procedures are being properly followed, assets are safeguarded and that resources are judiciously utilized, Management information is sound and adequate, risk management and analysis framework are developed and enhanced.
Roles and Responsibilities
Assist in developing the annual internal audit plan based on a risk assessment of the bank's operations.
Identify key areas of risk and establish appropriate audit objectives, scope, and methodologies.
Coordinate with relevant departments to schedule and conduct audit activities.
Conduct internal audits to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.
Perform detailed testing of transactions, financial records, and operational activities to identify weaknesses and areas for improvement.
Document audit procedures, findings, and recommendations in clear and concise audit reports.
Evaluate the bank's risk management framework and internal control systems to identify potential areas of vulnerability or non-compliance.
Assess the effectiveness of risk mitigation measures and recommend improvements as necessary.
Monitor the implementation of corrective actions resulting from audit findings and verify their effectiveness.
Communicate audit findings, recommendations, and areas of improvement to management and relevant stakeholders.
Prepare clear and concise audit reports summarizing audit objectives, scope, procedures, findings, and recommendations.
Participate in meetings with management to discuss audit results, provide advice, and support the implementation of audit recommendations.
Requirements
First degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration or any related field.
A minimum of 5 years experience in Internal Audit, Risk management, or Compliance within the banking sector is preferred.
Professional qualification(s) such as ACA, ACCA, CISA, or CIA is a mandatory requirement
Solid understanding of MFB operations, financial products, and regulatory requirements in Nigeria.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks, assess controls, and recommend practical solutions
Excellent working knowledge of Excel, Word & Outlook (MS Office in general)
Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple audit assignments simultaneously.
Great (proven) interpersonal skills, and oral and written communication skills
