Financial Controller

About the role

Freeda is an AI‑powered compliance verification platform for the construction industry. Following a Series A round, the company needs a dedicated finance professional to own the integrity of its financial reporting and operations, allowing the founder to focus on growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close, produce accurate management accounts and deliver the board pack on time.
• Manage finance operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, expense management and vendor/freelance paperwork.
• Own revenue recognition for a project‑based service model, ensuring correct margin calculation and consistent time‑allocation by consultants.
• Oversee the full revenue‑to‑cash cycle, diagnosing each project phase and liaising with stakeholders to eliminate bottlenecks.
• Handle multi‑currency and cross‑border finance questions as the business expands across Europe and the GCC.
• Enforce financial discipline across the organization, ensuring expenses are submitted with proper documentation and supporting the growth of a junior AP/bookkeeper.
• Collaborate closely with the founder, a fractional CFO and the external accountant to meet French statutory deadlines (CIR, BSPCE, Syntec payroll).

Required profile

• Proven experience in month‑end close, financial reporting and board‑level financial presentation.
• Strong understanding of project‑based revenue recognition and unit‑economics analysis.
• Familiarity with French statutory requirements (CIR, BSPCE, Syntec payroll) is a plus.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal oversight and to drive financial processes across a fast‑growing organization.
