Ngamo Interpreter

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a skilled Ngamo Interpreter to support Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals across a range of humanitarian settings. You will provide accurate, impartial, and confidential interpretation in person, by phone, or via video, helping refugees and immigrants access essential services.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver interpretation for LEP clients in clinics, hospitals, schools, community organizations, and government agencies.
• Provide services in‑person, over the telephone, via videoconference, or other virtual platforms.
• Track assignments and work hours using the IRC’s designated software system.
• Participate in training sessions, assessments, and occasional special projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Required profile

• High school diploma (strongly preferred) and, if available, an interpretation certification.
• Professional interpretation experience, preferably with refugee or immigrant populations.
• Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to build trust with diverse clients.

Required skills

• Fluency in Ngamo and English.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and impartiality.
• Proficiency with basic computer software for tracking assignments.
