Senior Social Specialist

About the role

SMEC, a member of the Surbana Jurong Group, is seeking a Senior Social Specialist to lead social safeguard and resettlement activities on a major infrastructure project. The role involves ensuring that community and stakeholder considerations are integrated into project delivery across the transport and construction sector.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement social safeguard and resettlement plans in line with project requirements.
• Monitor compliance with social, environmental and stakeholder commitments.
• Engage directly with affected communities, local authorities and other stakeholders to address concerns.
• Support the preparation of reports, audits and documentation for internal and external reviewers.

Required profile

• Degree in Social Sciences or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience, preferably in infrastructure or large‑scale development projects.
• Demonstrated experience with International Financial Institution (IFI) frameworks is an advantage.
