Remote Medical Coder

About the role

We are looking for a meticulous Remote Medical Coder to join our healthcare team. The successful candidate will apply US or UK coding standards to ensure accurate reimbursement and regulatory compliance for complex patient records.

Key responsibilities

• Review inpatient and outpatient medical records, including operative reports and discharge summaries.
• Assign appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes (ICD‑10‑CM, CPT, HCPCS, ICD‑10, OPCS‑4, SNOMED CT).
• Ensure coding accuracy in line with federal, state, NHS and payer guidelines.
• Identify documentation gaps and query clinicians for clarification.
• Correct coding errors, resolve claim denials, and support revenue cycle management.
• Participate in audits and maintain high data integrity.
• Stay current with coding guideline updates and compliance regulations.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of hospital coding experience (inpatient or outpatient) in the US or UK.
• Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (e.g., CPC, CCS, CIC, COC) or equivalent UK certification.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and pharmacology.
• Reliable computer (Windows 10/11 or macOS 12+), high‑speed internet and backup power supply.
• Quiet, secure, HIPAA/GDPR‑compliant workspace.
