Health Monitoring Engineer – Heavy Mobile Equipment Mining

About the role

The SmartFleet Monitoring Engineer is responsible for overseeing the health and condition of heavy mobile mining equipment from our Remote Health Monitoring centre in Mauritius. You will work closely with internal teams, external customers and technology partners to turn monitoring data into actionable maintenance insights.

Key responsibilities

• Provide remote health‑monitoring services to mining customers and BIA operations in line with SmartFleet contracts.
• Generate timely alerts, reports and value‑added analyses using KPI‑based preventive‑maintenance metrics.
• Define and maintain complex alerting rules to detect true alarms via SmartFleet Insights.
• Conduct Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) simulations and saving analyses.
• Develop and maintain machine‑performance and health‑monitoring dashboards, including predictive‑maintenance models.
• Create ad‑hoc dashboards and statistical tools to highlight data exceptions.
• Offer consulting and implementation support for SmartFleet Suite solutions.
• Organise regular training sessions for operations, customers and new analysts.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial asset maintenance, machine set‑up and diagnostics.
• Familiarity with vehicle health‑monitoring systems such as VHMS, Komtrax or SmartFleet Insights; experience with OEM tools (e.g., CAT, Hitachi) is a plus.
• Strong background in data and statistical analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
