About the role
Saint Louis University’s Department of Civil Engineering seeks an enthusiastic adjunct faculty member to teach the undergraduate Structural Design Laboratory. The position involves delivering hands‑on, project‑based learning that reinforces design code applications introduced in the introductory course.
Key responsibilities
- Teach the Structural Design Laboratory course in person, guiding students through design code calculations and practical projects.
- Develop and update laboratory experiments and instructional materials aligned with current industry standards.
- Assess student performance, provide feedback, and maintain accurate grading records.
- Collaborate with full‑time faculty to ensure curriculum coherence and continuous improvement.
Required profile
- Minimum of a Master’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience in structural engineering, either through teaching or professional practice.
- Strong communication skills and a commitment to student‑centered, hands‑on education.
Required skills
- Knowledge of structural design codes and provisions.
- Ability to facilitate laboratory‑based, project‑oriented learning.
- Proficiency in civil engineering fundamentals.
