Adjunct Faculty – American Politics

About the role

Saint Louis University’s Department of Political Science is seeking an Adjunct Faculty member to teach an introductory course in American politics for the Fall 2026 semester, beginning in August 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures and facilitate discussions for an introductory American politics course.
• Prepare and update course syllabi, reading lists, and assessment materials.
• Assess student performance through assignments, exams, and class participation.
• Provide office hours and academic support to students.

Required profile

• PhD in Political Science preferred; ABD candidates will be considered.
• Previous teaching experience at the undergraduate level is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of American political institutions, processes, and contemporary issues.

Required skills

• Effective classroom instruction and student engagement.
• Curriculum development and syllabus design.
• Assessment and grading of undergraduate coursework.
